All that's required for processing directly within QuickBooks is an Internet Merchant Account* with an acquiring institution and access to the Internet.

Make the sale, process payment via credit card and provide customers with a sale receipt/tax invoice instantaneously.

A card swipe terminal or dedicated phone line isn't required. There's no additional hardware or software to install. All you need is a current version of QuickBooks Accounting (or higher) and an Internet connection.
